Your computer holds your life. šŸ’»

Photos. Work files. Client projects. Passwords. Emails.

Now imagine turning it on tomorrow… and everything is gone.

It happens more than people think:
• Hard drive failure
• Accidental deletion
• Malware or ransomware
• Water damage
• Stolen laptop

And if your only copy is sitting on your desktop, that’s not a system. That’s a gamble.

Saving everything to your desktop is a really bad habit. It feels safe because you can see your files. But your desktop is still just one device. If that device fails, your files go with it.

If You’re a Web Designer, Graphic Designer, or Video Animator…

Your risk is even bigger.

• Website builds and client source files
• Adobe project files (PSD, AI, INDD)
• Raw video footage and animation renders
• Logo master files
• Client brand kits
• Website backups and hosting credentials
• Domain access details

Imagine losing:

  • A full website before launch
  • Months of animation edits
  • A client’s approved design files
  • Hosting access for multiple client sites

That’s not just inconvenience. That’s lost income. Lost trust. Possible legal issues.

And here’s something many creatives forget:

If you manage web hosting, you should also be backing up:
āœ”ļø Website files
āœ”ļø Databases
āœ”ļø cPanel / hosting configurations
āœ”ļø Client email accounts
āœ”ļø Domain records

Never rely on a hosting company as your only backup. Always keep your own copy.

The Simple Rule: 3-2-1 Backup

In cybersecurity, we teach something called the 3-2-1 backup rule. It’s simple and powerful.

3 copies of your data
1 main copy + 2 backups

2 different types of storage
For example:
• Your computer
• An external hard drive
• Cloud storage

1 copy stored off-site
Somewhere physically separate.
If your house or office has a fire, flood, or theft — you’re still protected.

Example:
• Copy 1: Your PC
• Copy 2: External hard drive
• Copy 3: Secure cloud backup

Backup isn’t complicated. It just needs to be intentional.

This video is from our Cyber Security Course where we break it down step-by-step in a way that’s easy to understand — no tech overwhelm.

Don’t wait for a crash to start caring about backup.
Protect your data before you need to recover it. šŸ”
